UC/Chicago Center on the Demography and Economics of Aging

Regions:
Organization Type:

The 42 researchers who comprise Chicago's Center on Aging are drawn from the departments of Economics, Psychology, and Sociology at the University of Chicago; the University's Graduate School of Business, Pritzker School of Medicine, School of Social Service Administration, and Harris Graduate School of Public Policy Studies; affiliates at other universities; and NORC.

Academic demographic and economic research, often interdisciplinary, and the dissemination of research-based information about the aging of the population are our primary activities. We are supported by a grant from the National Institute of Aging (NIA) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Research support comes from NIH, the National Science Foundation, and private foundations. We are part of the academic research centers of NORC and the University of Chicago and are located on campus, across the Midway, at 1155 East 60th Street. Many of our researchers also work at the Population Research Center (PRC), another of the academic research centers; their demographic work unrelated to the study of aging is addressed more thoroughly on the PRC web site.
