The Tulane Center on Aging Research, Education and Services (TCARES) was founded in 1986 to advance the study of gerontology on Tulane's campus and in Louisiana. Sponsored by the School of Social Work, the Center is under the direction of Dr. Jeanette Jennings with the support of Social Work faculty members.

TCARES promotes intellectual exchanges among faculty members, stresses interdisciplinary activities; and focuses on multidisciplinary cooperation in research, education and services. These activities are centered on five areas of endeavor: the continuum of health and wellness; intergenerational families; minorities and aging; environmental issues and aging; and, international issues and aging.
