National Academy for State Health Policy

The National Academy for State Health Policy is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to helping states achieve excellence in health policy and practice.

Our 20-member staff, based in Portland, Maine

* conducts policy analysis;
* provides training and technical assistance to states;
* produces informational resources; and
* convenes state, regional, and national forums, including our annual state health policy conference which will be held in 2005 in Nashville, TN, August 7-9.

NASHP recognizes that responsibility for health care does not reside in a single state agency or department and provides a unique forum for productive interchange across all lines of authority, including executive offices and the legislative branch.
