The original plan was to use Drupal as a new framework for ElderWeb instead of my home-grown content management system (CMS). That was going to leave me doing less work on the back end so I could focus on adding content to the site. But a funny thing happened along the way and I got completely sucked into the Drupal project and I've been writing and maintaining a number of Drupal modules. This is still good for ElderWeb since I'm using the fruit of all that labor to make the site better, but didn't happen quite the way I expected.
Anyway, last week was the OSCMS Summit at Yahoo, including DrupalCon. I've been in touch with many of the Drupal developers over the last year or so and felt like I knew them, but I hadn't met any of them face to face. It was a complete blast to meet everyone. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming even though none of them had ever met me before. The energy in that group is unbelievable, and it's contagious. I came back feeling like we could conquer the world, or at least the web.
The Lullabot crew even came up with a theme song and made a Podcast. And Dries Buytaert posted some Photos of the event (and I'm in them).
