Locating Bills and Records

Sometimes families who have become responsible for their parents' affairs need to request copies of lost records, such as birth, death, and marriage certificates, military records, old tax returns, or Social Security payment information. These records may be needed to apply for benefits like Medicare or Medicaid, or just to organize and manage their financial affairs. Families may also need to locate property, especially if the property owner has forgotten, or is unable to communicate, where property is located, or even what property exists. A great deal of information on how to do so is available on the Web, but it is scattered across a wide variety of sites.
